Dettol has confirmed the effectiveness of its products against COVID-19

The Dettol brand has obtained laboratory confirmation of the effectiveness of its products against the SARS CoV-2 virus, causing the COVID-19 disease. The tests were carried out by Microbac Laboratories on behalf of the brand owned by Reckitt Benckiser. Dettol surface disinfection products kill 99.9% of bacteria, fungi and viruses [1] including the SARS-CoV-2 virus [2] and can be an effective preventive measure against the spread of these pathogens.

Scientists from the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) indicate that the virus that causes the COVID-19 disease can survive on surfaces for up to 28 days. [3] This shows how important for limiting the spread of the coronavirus is surface disinfection with certified agents such as Dettol surface disinfection spray and wipes. The effectiveness of the products of the brand belonging to Reckitt Benckiser, the leader in the global market of detergents and disinfectants, has been confirmed by the tests of the independent analytical laboratory Microrobac Laboratories. The centre, as one of the few in the world, has a CDC certificate (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) to perform this type of research. The obtained results were published, among others in the scientific journal American Journal of Infection Control,

“Up to 80% of the germs around us can be transferred by touch, including contact with contaminated surfaces. Therefore, you should be aware that apart from keeping social distance, proper wearing of masks on the face and proper hand hygiene, effective disinfection of the surfaces surrounding us is equally important for breaking the chain of infection "- says Dr. Tomasz Dzieścitkowski, a virologist from the Medical University of Warsaw.

Households have contact with germs and microbes in every room - not only in the bathroom. Research by the National Science Foundation [4] has shown that bacteria, viruses and fungi are as common in the toilet as they are on the kitchen counter or sink.

“Cutting boards, sinks, refrigerators, children's chairs or changing mats. These are just some of the surfaces that bacteria and viruses, including the COVID-19 disease virus, have a particular liking for. We touch them regularly, and then, often unconsciously, we also touch our mouth and face, which increases the risk of indirect contact promoting the spread of the coronavirus. We must remember that the health of our relatives is in our hands, and effective disinfection with certified agents significantly reduces the risk of infection, ”says Monika Schmidt, director of medical and regulatory affairs at Reckitt Benckiser.

Antibacterial and yeasticidal Dettol liquid is intended for cleaning and disinfecting surfaces, including surfaces that come into contact with food. Effective against 99.9% of bacteria, kills the virus that causes COVID-19 disease. The liquid is suitable for cutting boards, children's chairs, changing mats, refrigerators, garbage cans, kitchen sinks, bathtubs and valves, toilet seats.

Antibacterial and pesticidal Dettol wipes are intended for cleaning and disinfecting surfaces, including surfaces that come into contact with food. The wipes are suitable for: cutting boards, children's chairs, changing mats, refrigerators, wastebaskets, kitchen sinks, bathtubs and valves, toilet seats. No bleach. They kill 99.9% of the bacteria, the virus that causes the COVID-19 disease, as well as the H1N1 influenza virus, coronavirus (BCV), RSV and rotavirus.
