YouTube has removed Burmese TV channels from its platform

Belonging to YouTube Alphabet Inc. removed five Burmese TV channels currently under military control from its platform. It was reported that this was a reaction to a military coup in Burma and brutal police and military repression against peaceful demonstrators.

"We completed the uploads of several channels and removed a number of videos in accordance with our community policies and relevant legal provisions," said a YouTube spokeswoman.

She added that the withdrawn channels include, among others Burma's state television MRTV (Myanma Radio and Television) and military-owned Myawaddy Media, MWD Variety and MWD Myanmar. (PAP)
