Research shows that every tenth person who lost their job during the pandemic says that the process of looking for a new job was not difficult. But six times more of the surveyed employees admit that it was a real challenge for them, according to a report by the consulting company Lee Hecht Harrison (LHH) Polska, which quotes "Rzeczpospolita". The report is the result of talks with over 220 participants of outplacement programs, i.e. employer-financed support for dismissed employees.
Why is it so that employees often give up submitting their CV and cover letter via large job portals? Is the time of job portals on the market running out?
First of all, the database of a given job portal is rarely updated and CVs of potential employees who are no longer interested are often sent. Another reason is the price, inadequate to the quality of services offered and customer service, which employers in the network and social media are increasingly complaining about.
Another "problem" that has emerged in recent years is the clause required under the General Data Protection Regulation. If a potential employee does not include a clause in his CV, or if he includes an outdated one, the algorithms of job portals automatically reject their applications, even though they may be one of the best candidates for the position.
Employers who claim that the monopoly on job portals is about to end often use new solutions offered by social media and advertising campaigns, through which they acquire a potential employee and at the same time build brand recognition. The advertisement can be combined, for example, with a description of the company and its services, and additionally add information about the company's development and recruitment.
Since the introduction of the GDPR, the employer is required to provide the name and registered office of the company in the job advertisement, and must also disclose the intention to process data cross-border and provide information on how long the data will be archived. Candidates who are currently working, but want to change their position, until recently, for various reasons, skipped anonymous job offers for fear that it might be an offer from their supervisor. Thanks to the form of recruitment through marketing campaigns along with a sponsored article about the company and its services / products, more candidates will be consciously applied.
