Restrictions in Italy introduced during Christmas and the turn of the year means the Italian tourism industry will lose 10 million guests in hotels and guesthouses and EUR 8.5 billion in revenues - such forecasts were presented by the sector federation on Saturday.
The Christmas and New Year period in Italy will be marked by restrictions on travel between regions, as well as the obligation of quarantine for people coming from abroad from December 21 to January 6. All New Year's Eve parties were also cancelled.
According to the federation of tourist services, 3.9 million foreigners will not come to the country due to these restrictions. 6.4 million Italians also gave up their travels.
According to the announced data, tourist traffic has reached its historical minimum, and almost all trips have been postponed to next summer. (PAP)
