Mrągowo is situated among the green forests and the blue waters of the lakes of the Mrągowo Lake District. Beautiful tenement houses, parks with a history, alleys and flowery meadows surrounding the city, are reflected in the surface of several lakes, of which lakes Juno, Czos and Czarne appear most often in the memories of tourists. The landscape of the town and its surroundings is enriched by moraine hills and fairy-tale gorges.
The most interesting monuments of Mrągowo include the neo-Gothic Roman Catholic church of St. Wojciech from the 19th century; the Evangelical-Augsburg church from the 18th century; Orthodox church - a former synagogue, town hall, where tourists can see the collections of the museum in Mrągowo; the building of the Bosnian Guardhouse; the Bismarck tower; a complex of tenement houses at ul. Królewiecka, Roosevelt and Warszawska.

For enthusiasts of active forms of recreation, there are canoeing trips, hiking and biking tours, horse riding. There are numerous and interesting hiking, biking and water routes from the city, incl. to Kętrzyn, Reszel, Święta Lipka and on the route of the Great Masurian Lakes.

Mrągowo is a city of festivals. Impressions and laughter are provided in the first half of July by the Masurian Cabaret Night. The cabaret hosts renowned Polish cabarets and the best performers of light music. A breathtaking event is the Masurian Opera Festival Belcanto. It gives the possibility of communing with the world of opera and operetta at the highest level. On the last weekend of July, cowboys come to the city limits to have fun at the famous Country Picnic. This country music festival is attended by tens of thousands of fans and tourists who change the face of the city for a few days. Western costumes, motorcycles, off-road and passenger cars, as well as horse vehicles, are then the colour of Mrągowo.
In mid-August, music and tradition lovers come to Mrągowo, not only from Poland but also from beyond the borderlands. The Borderland Culture Festival is a festival of patriotism and beautiful music. It is a presentation of the artistic past and tradition of Poles living in the former Kresy. The festival is attended by Polish folklore groups, choirs and bands, as well as individual artists of the artistic movement from Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Latvia and the Czech Republic. The Wedding Hits Festival is another August event that has become a permanent fixture in the repertoire of the best events not only in Mrągowo but also throughout Poland. It gathers not only great artists but also fans of disco music, which is the queen of every wedding and every summer.
